Great Escapes

International Drive is a treasure trove of fun activities nestled in the heart of Orlando’s tourist district. From towering thrill rides to amazing animal encounters, there’s a wide variety of things to do. In recent years, more unique experiences have found a home just steps from our doors. We’re excited to shine a light on some of our favorite experiences, in particular the escape rooms.

Popularized in the 2010s across Europe, Eastern Asia, and North America, escape rooms offer patrons the opportunity to engage in a bevy of fantastical scenario in which the goal is to “escape” before the clock runs out. Let’s take a look at a few of our favorite local escape rooms.

MindQuest Escape Games

Located on Universal Boulevard across the street from Rosen Shingle Creek, MindQuest houses 5 games: The Bomb, Diamond Heist, Mad Scientist, Cyber Crash, and The Haunting. Each situation based game is built for 2-8 people and ranges in difficulty. The combination of puzzles and brainteasers will help you unlock skills you might not even know you have. The experience is fully immersive, with rooms designed to fit the theme of your challenge. MindQuest is also preparing to open the doors to a brand new, fully immersive VR multiplayer game called The Arrival. This experience is made for smaller teams of 2-4 people. Save the world or save yourself. Whatever you choose, you have one hour. Every choice counts. Read more about MindQuest at http://mindquestescapegames.com/

America’s Escape Game

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in terror, America’s Escape Game on International Drive is for you. 6 thrilling rooms, 6 scenarios: Asylum, Crisis at 1600, The Lost Tomb of Monthu, Pandemic, The Caretaker, and Face Off, a high-energy competition escape room. Face Off pits you against both the clock and your opponents. This game tests your agility, mental toughness, time management, and negotiation. With only 45 minutes to escape, the pressure is on. One wrong move and NO ONE escapes.

The Escape Game Orlando

For those traveling with children, you may want to give this location a try. Also on International Drive, the Escape Game Orlando offers five 60-minute adventures: the Heist, Mission: Mars, Gold Rush, Classified, and Prison Break. Guests rave about the quality of the rooms for their design and multi-room layouts. If you’re looking to get your feet wet with the escape room experience, Gold Rush is the best place to start here. Find the long forgotten treasure left by a gold miner by following clues and solving puzzles. Their newest experience, Mission: Mars, is described as their “premium experience” and requires a very diverse and unique set of skills to restore power to your spacecraft and escape Mars before time is up.
