What is Hamilton?

Hamilton: An American Musical is a Broadway show about Alexander Hamilton, a founding father of the United States who immigrated from the West Indies and worked his way up to being the nation’s first treasury secretary. The musical is based on a 2004 biography of his life, written by historian Ron Chernow. Hamilton, featuring the work of composer Lin Manuel Miranda, blends multiple musical genres outside of traditional-style show tunes, most prominently the styles of hip-hop, R&B, and soul. As of 2016, Hamilton was on its way to being nominated for a record sixteen Tony awards, of which it won eleven, including Best Musical. That same year, Hamilton also received a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

When is Hamilton Showing?

The award-winning, critically acclaimed show will run from January 22 to February 10, 2019 in the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center located in downtown Orlando. Why Should I Go?

It’s the show that set the Broadway box office record by grossing over $3 million across eight performances in a single week in November 2016, but musicals are, admittedly, not for everyone. That’s okay. That being said, if there was ever a Broadway musical to introduce a non-fan to the art, it’s Hamilton.
