Orlando’s Best Doughnuts

“Doughnut” or “donut,” it doesn’t matter because we know we’re talking about the same treat that just about everybody enjoys. You could take a formal scientific survey or ask people on the streets to confirm this, or you could simply look at the number—and quality—of donut shops popping up in the Orlando metropolitan area. Doughnuts are the current hotcakes.

Here are our picks for the kreme of the crop when it comes to Orlandoughnuts.

Duck Donuts

710 Centerview Blvd., Kissimmee, FL 34741

Duck Donuts is an east coast franchise that just recently expanded into the Orlando area. They offer made-to-order vanilla cake donuts with a menu featuring endless combinations of coatings, toppings, and drizzles. Each store also has a seasonally rotating menu with the staff’s favorite combinations. As if that wasn’t enough already, Duck Donuts gets creative with its menu, serving up donut breakfast sandwiches and donut sundaes, if guests so choose. Duck Donuts also brews their own 100% Arabica bean brand of coffee and serves it hot or iced for a great tasting cup.

Voodoo Doughnut

6000 Universal Blvd., Orlando, FL 32819

Since opening their Orlando location at Universal’s CityWalk™ Orlando earlier this year, Voodoo Doughnut has been serving up doughnuts to all kinds of guests. These doughnuts have easily worked their way into the heart of locals around town. Offering three different kinds of doughnuts (raised yeast, cake, and a vegan option), Voodoo serves up their doughnuts with more than just toppings. Favorites like the Voodoo Doll or the Memphis Mafia almost seem to come alive with personality—something that I’m sure owners Tres Shannon and Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson are proud of.

Donut King

3716 Howell Branch Rd. #1701, Winter Park, FL 32792

Donut King is a family owned donut shop based in Minneola, Florida. They first opened their doors back in 2007 with their Winter Park location making its debut in 2014. Open 24 hours a day, Donut King has managed to grow a loyal local following, even being inducted into the Orlando Sentinel Culinary Hall of Fame earlier this year. While they are famous for their donuts, Donut King also offers an all-day menu that reflects the owning family’s Louisiana background, serving jambalaya and gumbo to those guests who want a taste of New Orleans.

Valkyrie Doughnuts

12226 Corporate Blvd., Orlando, FL 32817

Valkyrie Doughnuts might just be Orlando’s most unique doughnut shop. Each day’s menu is posted on the Instagram that same morning. One of their single doughnuts is a giant, tasty square that is about the equivalent of two or three “normal” doughnuts. As if that wasn’t enough, they also offer the “BFD” (I’ll let you guess the meaning of the initialism): one massive doughnut equal to about eight of their single doughnuts. For those of you keeping score at home, that’s roughly 16 to 24 “normal” doughnuts. The BFD is only available via an order made 48 hours in advance, so plan ahead if you want to take it on.
